Business value

Production inventory status has been introduced to meet the requirement of assigning an inventory status to materials and finished goods. Which is very useful if the materials meant for production are stored in the same warehouse from where they will also be traded.

Assumptions

• If storage dimension group has the flag coverage plan enabled on the inventory status, the inventory status will not be switched. 
• Production inventory status functionality is added under AWHS (Advanced Warehouse Management), because it concerns the WHS inventory status. We expect that a complex production implementation will need AWHS anyway.
• Inventory status change, can have impact on the next MRP (Master Planning) run.
• The status change can be triggered by the following actions: 
  - Creating  PO (production order) manually 
  - Creating PO from a sales order
  - Firm a planned PO
  - Pegged supply sub-PO through estimation of the main PO

Setup

Warehouse management > Setup > Inventory > Production inventory status setup

Field	Description
Edit query	Add criteria that must be met. The line is active when the production order is within the query selection. When an active line is found, the inventory status setup is applied to WHS items on the production order and in the production BOM lines.

Move up	Use the Move up and Move down buttons to determine the priority.
Move down	Use the Move up and Move down buttons to determine the priority.
Priority	Search priority(sequence) through the setup. Tip: start with the most specific query and finish with the most generic one.
Site	The site that it is applied for.
Warehouse	The warehouse that it is applied for.
Inventory status finished goods	The production order and the finished goods will get this inventory status.

Inventory status materials

The production BOM lines will get this inventory status.

Procedure

Create a new production or firm a planned production order.  The inventory status is applied automatically according to the Production inventory status setup.
