    Azure Search services

A Microsoft Azure AI Search service is required to make use of the Advanced Search Advanced Search product.

More information on this Service can be found here: Azure AI Search documentation | Microsoft Learn

Some information regarding pricing can be found here: Pricing - Azure AI Search | Microsoft Azure

An overview of the service limits (per pricing tier) can be found here: Service Limits for Tiers and SKUs - Azure AI Search | Microsoft Learn

Once the Azure AI Search service is available, it can be connected to the D365 environment where Advanced Search is to be used.

Navigate to System administration > Setup > HSO shared > Azure > Azure Search services

Create a new record with the '+New' button in the ribbon and fill in the following fields:

    Field Description
Name Give the Search service connection a name, which will be used within D365 when referencing to which Search service to use.
Search service Enter the name of the search service as it is called within Azure
Key storage type Select which security type to use: String for the Azure password, or Key Vault to use a Key vault certificate to authenticate the connection.
Service key If the key storage type is set to 'String', then enter the primary or secunadery password form the Azure Search service (these can be found within the service under settings > keys) (When using 'Key Vault' this field remains empty)
Key Vault certificate If the key storage type is set to Key Vault, then select the Key vault certificate to be used here. (When using 'String' this field remains empty)

Once all information has been filled in, it's possible to validate the connection, by clicking on the 'Validate' button in the ribbon. If the connection to the Azure search service can be made successfully, a message will appear saying the Service is OK.

In case the connection cannot be made and an error message is shown, please check all fields carefully and use the info from the message to help resolve the issue. In very rare cases, the service itself could be down, this can be checked on the official Azure status page (status.azure.com) or in the Azure Service Health dashboard within the Azure portal (portal.azure.com).
