This enhancement streamlines the sales order process by eliminating extra clicks and ensuring that the supplementary item is added automatically. Without this automation or a system message, there is a risk that users may overlook adding the required supplementary item.

Process

Supplementary items are a standard Microsoft feature that allows an item to be linked to another item and added to a order by selecting Calculate supplementary items. This enhancement extends that functionality by integrating the calculation into the Order complete process, so supplementary items can be added automatically during order completion.

The underlying Microsoft logic remains unchanged; performing Order complete triggers the same calculation as manually selecting Calculate supplementary items.

Supplementary items with the Optional parameter set to Yes are treated differently. Because these items are optional, they are not added automatically during order completion. If any order line contains a supplementary item marked as Optional = Yes, then no supplementary items—optional or non‑optional—are added automatically. Instead, the system displays a message informing the user that supplementary items were found, allowing the user to decide whether they should be added. If desired, the user can add them manually by selecting Calculate supplementary items.

Order completion adds a supplementary item only once. Repeating Order complete on the same order does not add the same supplementary item again; this is controlled through a record ID to prevent duplicates. Manually selecting Calculate supplementary items will add the supplementary item again, which is standard Microsoft behavior and has not been modified.
