    Cases

    General

In Dynamics Data Protection it is possible to create Data Protection specific cases. For that purpose the Data Protection Case Type entity can be filled. You can think of types like Data Consent, Data Deletion, Data Rectification or Data Breach. It is also possible to link the standard Subject to the case but then a system administrator should also create the subject values first.

After saving the case, the details of the data subject will appear in the section Consent Details listing all active data consents of the data subject. Additionally, Knowledge Based Articles can be searched (and linked to the case) to assist in solving the case.

Based on the Data Protection Case Type, the Priority of a case and related SLA field can be defaulted automatically. For that purpose the entity Data Protection Case Type Priorities should have been setup in the Settings area of the Data Protection app.

The Data Protection Case Type also determines if a contact should be validated in the Validate Contact stage. If the validation is required, it will not be possible to go to the next stage untill validation has been confirmed in the case. If validation is not required, the stage can be finished without setting the validation fields.

If for example the case is used for a data deletion and an anonymization request, the anonymized contact will still be linked to the case when the contact has been anonymized.
