Smart organisation of cycle count work saves a lot of time. In the past, it was very common to ask the warehouse workers to count the full inventory between Christmas and New Year. Nowadays, there are better ways to have a reliable inventory year round and satisfy the requirements of the finance and controlling.
Challenge in Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations is that the cycle counting work is all created in the same work class.
Typically high locations should be counted with a reach truck, whilst floor locations can be counted without equipment, but the work class can not be used to assign the counting work automatically to the right users.
Advanced Warehouse Management can automatically separate this work for floor level counting and high bay counting by setting up different work classes on the cycle count plan and cycle count threshold. Work classes can be used to setup for different types of work, warehouse areas and user authorizations.
Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations does not support the use of labor standards (automatic calculation of estimated time) for cycle counting. This is needed to view the estimated remaining time needed for cycle counting in the dashboard. Advanced Warehouse Management adds this functionality.

The work classes defined in the Cycle count plan setup are used in the cycle count work that is generated by the cycle count plan.
If no specific work class is applied, the cycle count work class specified in the warehouse management parameters is used.

The work classes defined in the Cycle count threshold setup are used in the cycle count work that is generated when an inventory threshold is hit on a location, or when a cycle plan is run.
If no specific work class is applied, the cycle count work class specified in the warehouse management parameters is used.
