In standard Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations Enable price control is activated, users have to enter a reason code when they change the unit price on the sales order.

It is possible to setup a work flow in order to get this price override approved. Also the line amount is not editable anymore.

The unit price is only editable when on the item the parameter Allow price adjust is enabled.

 

In Dynamics Price and Margin Management the parameter Enable order price control (DYS) activates a different kind of price override. This feature has been introduced especially for the users of our Counter sales functionality:

• The work flow is disabled. This is done because when you are behind a counter desk you do not want to wait until somebody in the back office has approved the price override.
• The unit price is editable when Allow price adjust on the item is enabled
• The line amount is editable.
• The reason code is not mandatory anymore but can be set mandatory by enabling the parameter Enable price override reason code. In addition a reason code also needs to be specified when changing the discount or net price.

Besides these configurable features within Dynamics Price and Margin Management always hides the standard fields discount %, multi line discount and multi line discount %, as those fields are not used on retail sales orders.

Enable order price control (DYS)	The standard parameter Enable price control needs to be turned before this parameter can be enabled. It will deactivate the work flow and the reason code for price override is not mandatory anymore.

When Enable order price control (DYS) is enabled, this parameter makes the reason code mandatory again, but not only for a change of the unit price, also when changing the discount or net price on the order line.
