Create back order from sales order line

If product on an order line must be delivered partially, because of insufficient stock, an extra backorder sales line can be generated within the same sales order.

When the users clicks on the Create backorder menu item on the sales line he gets the possibility to specify:

Sales quantity: this will be the quantity that will be put in back order
Site and Warehouse: will be initiated from the settings on the warehouse of the current order line
Mode of delivery: will be initiated from the settings on the back order warehouse, if not set then from the delivery address and if not set from the customer.
Delivery address: will be initiated form the order line

Note

In case of a call center order, the system will execute the same validation for the field Mode of delivery as on the sales line. It will validate whether the combination of channel, country, item and delivery mode has been setup as a valid combination.

The user is able to change the defaulted values in this dialog. On close of the dialog a new sales line will be added to the current sales order. The original quantity is split into two lines now but the total quantity remains the same.

If the user likes to know which warehouse does have sufficient inventory he could use the form Product and supply, Delivery alternatives first as this provides an overview of warehouses with sufficient inventory.

If the full sales quantity is selected as backorder quantity, the original line will be set to sales quantity zero, and the status of the original line will become Cancelled.

Note

The Create backorder function is not allowed when the sales line is marked against a fulfillment like a purchase order or transfer order.
