    In This Topic

Description of the specific features for production scheduling.

    Icon Explanation
Indicate that the status of the production order is scheduled.
Indicate that the status of the production order is released.
Indicate that the status of the production order is started.
Indicates that this production order route step is fixed and can’t be rescheduled.
The bar at the end of each production route step displays the total progress of the production order

By double clicking a scheduled production order in the scheduling overview the production route screen will be shown.

From a scheduled production order a context menu can be opened via a right mouse click. The following options will be available:

    Field Description
    Worker Name

When selected opens the work center form with the resource information.

    Leave Absence

This will open the leave and absence menu allowing the user to enter leave and absence.

Create a resource group calendar and deviation interval

Allows defining a different calendar than standard linked to this work center for a pre-defined time.

    Production: nr.

Open the production order the is linked to the selected production route step.

    Release / Start

Changes the status of the production order to ‘released’. This status change used the standard logic to change the status and does the same as releasing the production order from the production order screen.

    Colors

Opens the list with defined colors so the user can see where the color in the screen is coming from.

    Optimize

This option opens the standard job scheduling screen allowing the user to optimize the planning for the selected production order.

    Lock

Fixates the production order to its date/time.

The grid below the graphical overview displays standard production route content (see also production order details, button "route"). Via the buttons on the upper side of the grid the most used options and functions for production orders can be accessed.

An additional feature is "Blocked for planning" prevents the selected production order from being rescheduled. A blocked order cannot be dragged on the graph or on the grid. Additionally, Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations will issue an error message when rescheduling another production order would result in a blocked order being rescheduled: "Job is locked. Consequently, start cannot be moved forward to …".

It is also possible to modify the run time, setup time and work centers directly in the "production" grid. When data is saved, the user will be prompted to confirm an automatic reschedule ("update planning?"). When confirmed, Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations will reschedule the modified job and all following jobs for the concerned work center. When declined, Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations will reschedule only the modified job and leave other jobs on the work center unaltered.

Production scheduling in the Scheduling overview

After the Planning optimization with job scheduling has run, the scheduled jobs are visible through horizontal bars.

    Production hover over

Organization administration > Setup > Graphical planning > Scheduling overview - hover over

The content of the tooltip that pops up when the user hovers over the production order, can be configured.

Initialize the form and enable the desired information about the production order, resource, days until shipping, material available date etc.

    Production order grouping

It is possible to group production operations together, so they are kept ‘together’ in planning. Primary operations that are planned (but not started!) on the same work center and that belong to production orders that don’t have other operations in a group can be grouped. The consequence of grouping operations of different production orders is that, if a job referring to an operation in a group is rescheduled via the graphical scheduling overview; all associated operations in that group are rescheduled as well in order to keep the jobs in the operation together.

The process for creating a production order grouping is as follows.

Process for modifying a production order grouping (like adding a production order to an existing group)

The grouping order has now been modified, holding all previously selected production orders, and removing all production orders that had the field ‘Remove’ flagged.
