In standard Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations there is only one contact person available on the order header. In distribution companies there is often a need to be able to specify a specific contact person to whom the goods need to be delivered to. The standard contact person field remains as contact which placed the order.
An additional field/parameter has been added to the contact table. With this parameter a contact can be marked as a contact for delivery. On the Customer and Customer object form, it is possible to set a primary contact and contact for delivery.
When this is done, the primary contact from the customer or customer object will automatically be inherited on the Sales quotation, Sales order and RMA-order. This makes it possible to have two contacts (Contact and Contact for delivery) on the order, instead of one (Contact).

When set to Yes, additional filters are available on the lookup field Contact for delivery. The additional filters are:

On the contacts form, an additional parameter "Contact for delivery" has been added. This way the contact can be marked as contact for delivery.

Additional field Primary contact for delivery is added on this tab on the Customer form, beside the field Primary contact. The selected contact persons in these fields will automatically be filled in on the orders that are created for this customer.

The parameter Contact for delivery is also added on this form. When adding contact, set Contact for delivery on Yes if that is the case.
Sales and marketing > Customer object > All customer objects > select Customer object > tab Relations > Relations
The fields Primary contact and Primary contact for delivery are added on the Relations tab. The selected contact persons in these fields will (dependent on the parameter Initialize delivery address from customer object) be filled in on the orders that are created with this customer object.
